The astounding new DOJ
Consent Decree Motion, Post 3- Louisville's Consent Decree on the hot seat- the back burner
Judge Beaton’s request for supplemental briefing was bad timing for the former Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights, Kristen Clarke. It was posted to the docket two days before the inauguration of President Trump.
The new DOJ AG, Pam Bondi, her Assistant AG who has replaced Clarke, Harmeet Dhillon, and the staff attorneys have needed time to review the issue at hand. An unopposed motion was made on April 18 for an extension, and the new date for a conference is May 21. Meanwhile, the numerous ADA aficionados are sitting tight. Or— some may no longer be in the same job?
We can’t be sure about the DOJ prosecutors either. We know that one of those prosecuting Brett Hankison, whose sentencing was again delayed on March 25 to July 16, is no longer with the DOJ. Are both prosecutors gone? What is going on in the astounding, new DOJ? We read —
At least three senior career attorneys -- nonpolitical employees who typically remain in their jobs from administration to administration -- who managed offices that investigated abuse by police and handled violations of voting and disability rights, have been ordered to take other assignments… The changes are part of a shakeup by Trump's pick to lead the Civil Rights Division, Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon. The division has paused probes of alleged police abuse… The reassignments for the senior attorneys include handling public records requests or adjudicating internal discrimination complaints…
Hmm, doesn’t sound like much fun.
Who is Harmeet Dhillon?

Most Louisvillians have heard the name “Kristen Clarke” and have seen her in local news as the one who promised the DOJ Consent Decree ‘will ensure constitutional policing, promote public safety, and safeguard people’s civil rights.’ She was prominent from day one of the DOJ investigation.

The below screenshot that begins mid-article, from The Daily Signal (3-31-25), reveals her narrow civil rights focus, and the article recounts that she lied under oath during her Senate confirmation. The article references the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).
In 2015, as director of the civil rights bureau of the New York AG, she began an investigation into the Boy Scouts because it banned openly gay adults from employment, which led to ending that policy, and you know the rest of the story.
In deep contrast, our current Assistant AG for Civil Rights is a — What?! No welcoming commentary in the C-J? (screenshot 4-25-25)
She was sworn in on April 7.
Her background is laudable and very interesting. Here are some links if you want to get to know her.

There’s just so much here, Harmeet is just great I have watched her for years on Fox and even tho she is a Hindu she will and has protected the rights of Christians.
Poor Greenberg, I don’t think he is an unbearable liberal I just don’t think he is all that bright and has surrounded himself with deep state libs and he never has a chance to critically evaluate an issue with an open mind. He has been convinced that blacks and gangs must be handled with kid gloves and he can buy their loyalty and peace by ignoring the gangs and depend on Christopher 2X to keep their actions to an “acceptable” level.
There should be a cell in the Cecon prison for those who have done all in their power to destroy the life of Hankinson. It is my hope that those who have participated to this coup will pay dearly for their hateful actions.
