Railroaded
USA v. Brett Hankison Mistrial, Final Post, Post 14 - Is Justice only an American dream?
BLM has superseded American justice in many instances. Today, the Department of Justice is in our hometown writing the rules for our local police, against all Constitutional integrity and the rightful expectations of citizens— and it has all happened fast. We are being railroaded.
In a democracy, the majority rules and wisely shows respect and generosity to minorities. Are we living in a democracy?
The LMPD has a majority of white male police. Here is the count:
Is that White Privilege? I have not been able to figure out why the count of white males on the police force is calculated to be 70.67% of the total number of 1,050, yet in the pie graphic it is only 58.56%. Can someone explain this?
It doesn’t matter. All will come under the Consent Decree because of the perceived abuse of minorities, with the Breonna Taylor ‘raid’ as the scaffold for the new rules.
Why do some in the black community in Louisville continue to demand justice for Breonna by insisting that a trial by jury must find Brett guilty as charged? (See previous posts.)
Why does the media narrative always report that Walker’s gun was legally owned and that he only shot once? Of course, it was instinctual for him to dive to the floor after shooting Mattingly.
Brett’s instinct to help save the lives of his fellow officers was stronger than his instinct for self protection, yet the prosecution argued just the opposite. Why would the DOJ want to give the benefit of the doubt to Breonna and Kenneth rather than to the police?
“It’s a sad day when the criminal element is believed ahead of seven officers with over 120 years combined of street experience.” (12 Seconds in the Dark, p 132)
Truth and Justice
Each witness in a trial swears (or affirms) to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth. However, readers of this blog series know that not all witnesses told the whole truth. Depositions taken immediately after the event differed from certain statements last November.
To avoid perjury in the 2024 trial, just have all prospective witnesses read what they said in 2020 and stick to the facts. Memories may blur, but we have a record of exactly what the witnesses said when the event was fresh in their minds. Truth is essential to justice.
Perhaps many of the same witnesses will not be recalled next fall; I don’t know the rules of federal trials. I have learned that Brett’s attorneys believe he will be exonerated in the retrial.
Your presence in the courtroom will help. The USA side will be packed.
